I saw this boy and his younger sister in a small village during a visit Weston and I made to Peru with a Lakeside HS group in the summer of 2022. I did not capture his face well here, but he had a warm smile, and I was intrigued by the mixture of traditional and new in their clothes, so I couldn't resist taking a photo. Was he parading his cute sister for the tourists and hoping I would pay them for the photo (our tour guide asked that we not do that) or was he just being friendly? While I saw hundreds of Peruvians wearing colorful traditional Andean clothing, this brief encounter stuck with me.
